Cameras to Digital Cameras
Photographic cameras were a development of the "darkened chamber" which used a lens to project an image upside-down onto the viewing surface. Camera technology continues to improve. Family photo albums have gotten thicker over the years as cameras have become part of everyday life. Once only used by professionals, cameras have evolved in size, color, features, and ease of use for the most novice photographer.
Telescopes and Binoculars
Astronomy is one of the oldest sciences. The invention of the telescope has enabled astronomy to develop into a modern science. The telescope was made possible due to early knowledge of lenses which developed when a piece of rock crystal was unearthed. Telescopes lenses bend or reflect light to form an image. Binoculars are simply a pair of identical telescopes mounted side by side and aligned to point in the same direction.
Digital Cameras, Telescopes, and Binoculars
Whether you capture life with a camera, gaze at the stars through a telescope, or grab your binoculars for a little bird-watching, you have to admit lenses have come a long way from rock crystals.
